The Elementarion
Revenge Match
With Penpen able to make bombs and various potions, it was time to challenge the Elementarion… the Great Turtle.
Well, even though I say "challenge", I was fully intent on defeating it and had no intention of losing. If push came to shove, I'd just run away again. I already had a track record of escaping successfully, and my Lv had gone up since then.
If it was just Tria-chan, escaping shouldn't be impossible.
"But being left behind on guard duty feels lonely…"
"You can't run fast enough, so it can't be helped, Penpen…"
"Running speed, huh… I'll have to dig deeper into alchemy and see if I can make some escape items."
"But don't bosses usually prevent escape?"
"They do, don't they? Classic no-escape boss battle."
Well, I did have a track record of escaping from the Great Turtle.
So we grabbed the bombs and potions and headed for the rocky mountain. Apparently we needed to run half a day in the opposite direction from where the Great Boar was… well, let's skip that with fast travel.
"Alright, let's go, Alto!"
"Yeah yo!"
And so, after half a day in-game and five seconds in real life, we arrived at Tria-chan's starting point. We left at midnight, so we arrived during the day.
… Would the Great Turtle be there? It should be, right? My heart was pounding…
"Don't worry yo, compared to the customers I deal with at work, this is nothing yo!"
"Don't compare real life and games. Anyway, let's head up to the cliff where I first spotted the turtle."
That spot was the turtle's nest, and if the turtle was relaxing there, getting the first strike would be easy.
We could even attack one-sidedly with Alto's gun from above.
I guided Alto toward the cliff… yep. Not there. Where'd it go? There were some Baby Turtles scattered around, but… hm, a shadow?
"…! Above yo!?"
"What!? Dodge roll!"
The moment Alto and I tumbled forward, the Great Turtle landed where we'd been standing.
THOOM!! A massive cloud of dust and tremor. And then, the cliff began to collapse.
Wait, can this turtle fly!?
"GRUBMOAAAAAAA!!!!"
"Yo yo yo, it collapsed our footing yo! What do we do, Tria yo!?"
"Alto, do guerrilla support fire! I'll switch to Tria-chan and draw its attention!"
Staying silent until right before the ambush — this parent turtle has the basics down!!
Alto and I slid down the collapsing ground while glaring at the parent turtle sliding down alongside us. Its right eye was still bloodshot.
"… This time, I'll make you offer that eyeball to Spirit-sama…"
""I'm betting on Tria-chan's martial arts sense!""
"Good thing we didn't bring Penpen yo! Oraaa!!"
It's pathetic, but Tria-chan moving the body is stronger than me doing it.
Alto's gunfire, each shot like a rock from a catapult, was accurately hitting the Great Turtle's head… But each hit only rocked its head slightly, not doing much damage. Single digits like 5 or 8. I didn't know its total HP though.
"Tch, barely doing any damage yo!"
"Enchant Thunder! Alright, let's go, oraaa!!!"
"Mm. I'll do it."
With a sliding rush, we safely landed in the plaza at the base of the cliff with its shallow pond. Tria-chan took out a Baby Turtle in passing with a thunder-enchanted punch… pretty tough! She added a kick to finish it off. Based on the displayed damage numbers, Baby Turtles had HP somewhere between 50 and 150.
… The Great Turtle must be some multiple of that. 10 times? 100 times?
"Oh, I can kill these yo! Don't hide in your shell yo, you snail bastard yo!!"
Alto was chasing one that had retracted into its shell, shoving her gun inside and rapid-firing until it was dead. Best to take care of the small fry first.
"BURUOOOOOOOAAAA!!!!"
"Yo yo yo! Mad about your kids getting killed yo? GORAAAA!!"
Alto kept firing at the Great Turtle, her gun going boom boom. Every shot was definitely hitting its head, but it didn't seem to be doing much damage.
Also, her lines made us sound like the villains here.
"Damn this thing's tough yo!! Can't I compress and increase penetration or something yo!?"
"You'd probably need cartridges for that."
"Then I need to search ancient ruins yo! Not enough info yo!"
The Great Turtle retracted its head and started spinning.
"Geh, is it gonna do a spinning area sweep!?"
"Nah, this is gonna charge straight at us yo! Jump sideways yo!"
"Got it, roll, Tria-chan!"
Just as Alto predicted, the Great Turtle shot water while spinning and charged straight at us. What are you, a runaway truck!?
"Ha!"
"Yo yo yo, not bad for a turtle yo! So that's how you flew for that first ambush yo!?"
Tria-chan and Alto dodged in opposite directions, flanking the Great Turtle. Even while dodging, Alto kept up her boom boom gunfire. Without the infinite-ammo ancient gun, she probably wouldn't go this hard… wait, she was hitting every shot. Probably right into the hole where the Great Turtle retracted its neck. What's with that aim? Is this the power of a salesperson?
"Aren't you drawing too much aggro?"
"Nah, it keeps staring at your side yo? I can't draw its attention at all yo."
"… What?"
The Great Turtle, having slid down the collapsed cliff, stuck its head out slightly and glared at us. Completely ignoring the rocks thunking against the back of its head.
"You're still mad about the eye?"
"Speaking of which, this equipment… is from those turtles, right, Spirit-sama?"
"Ah, right…"
From the Great Turtle's perspective, I was wearing equipment that looked like it was made from skinning and sewing together its children. "Looked like"… no, that's exactly what it was. No wonder it was glaring at me.
"… Turtle. I'll turn you into equipment too. Come at me."
This really makes us the villains, doesn't it??
