Academy Arc ~ This Is the Main Game! ~
At the Student Council (Aftermath)
"I'm going to go pick some flowers for a bit~"
As Koleha stepped out, Harks lifted his head from his hands and addressed Hiiro Inn.
"Hiiro, that calculator Koleha developed… can we have it delivered to the royal castle? If Roborovski's involved, I imagine that's where it'll end up anyway."
"Hmm. Probably once the improvements are finished? I honestly had no idea Campbell had that kind of talent."
"I see… I'd like a few units in advance, even as-is… Ah, Campbell will become an independent noble. Baron rank is all but certain… If Roborovski had adopted him, even an earldom wouldn't be out of the question."
"Whoa, it's that significant an invention?"
"It will change the world. Look."
Harks pointed at Kurushu, whose sanity had been thoroughly shattered by the calculator.
"What is this… Huh… Calculations, calculations are so easy… A-are the totals correct…? … They're correct. Am I dreaming? This has to be a dream… Five-digit calculations done in an instant? What a magical tool… Ah, so that's why they call it magitech… Haha."
"Ah, Lord Kurushu is broken."
"Naturally. Any civil official would react the same way. Kenho probably wouldn't grasp how revolutionary it is, though."
Incidentally, within this student council, they addressed Kurushu by name as a rule.
Since two Nyarlathoteps were present and the other was from the main line, "Lady Nyarlathotep" rightfully referred to Koleha first.
"Your Highness, personally I just think it makes calculations easier… Is it really that significant? Well, given that it's Ojou-sama, I suppose that's only to be expected."
"If civil officials could accomplish twice—no, five times—as much work, what would happen?"
Calculations made up the bulk of a civil official's daily duties. If this magitech could improve both their speed and accuracy… a fivefold increase might not even begin to cover it.
"… Ah, that's huge. Even just reducing civil service labor costs to a fifth would have a massive impact on the national budget. No wonder granting a former orphan an earldom would be cheap by comparison. And no wonder Lord Kurushu ended up like this."
"This is still mild. Anyone researching magitech would probably scream and writhe on the floor… When Tsuvan wakes up, cover his ears. That'll likely be his reaction. If I recall, his specialty is magitech research."
"I was wondering why it was so quiet: President Tsuvan's still passed out."
Harks shrugged. This is what happens to those with no resistance to Koleha. Even he found himself helpless despite his built-up tolerance.
"Hey, get a grip, Kurushu. It's something your main-branch lady did."
"She's your fiancée!! Keep her on a leash!!"
"As if I could control Koleha. At best, I can make an exasperated face and give her a nudge, then pray she rolls somewhere beneficial."
With a heavy sigh, Harks leaned back and gazed up at the ceiling.
"Your Highness, you've gotten quite skilled at making exasperated faces at Ojou-sama."
"My fiancée seems to enjoy that expression. Before school started, I brought in a famous acting troupe to coach me. Not bad, right? If it makes Koleha happy, I'll do anything. Except break off the engagement."
"Ah, that explains it. I thought it seemed a bit theatrical."
"… Well, Koleha is pleased."
"She certainly is~"
Afterwards, they gushed over how adorable Koleha was, but thanks to a quick exchange of "She'll be back soon, time to avoid certain nouns" followed by a "Mm," they successfully led Koleha to believe, "Ah! The prince and the Heroine are chatting happily! That gentle expression… His affection must have risen again after he comforted her following the bullying! All according to plan!"
Additionally, Tsuvan regained consciousness right after Koleha departed with her cheery, "Thanks to the calculator, we've already finished our work! I'm off!" And, just as Harks had predicted, he screamed.
